My Manifesto Brief at University, basically it’s regarding ‘Respect’ something our society we live in has forgotten. - Not all, however, the majority have. I am regarding the older generation that most people have less respect for. I also mention that we as a society need to change for the better, as we will all be old one day. - The majority of us at least.

Method:

# First and fall most, finding the perfect model. Using the same background - a light brown/cream colour.
# Aligning the shot, I used my iPhone 4 - after reading an article in my Digital SLR magazine; ‘about a guy who was a professional photographer,’ and chose to use his iPhone 4. - This inspired me to attempt some good photos with this device.
# Importing to iPhoto, I then changed the contrast to a more cold feel — to create a more old feel yet keeping it realistic. The Greys really show once this effect was done.
# Now it was photoshop time for the one photo, in which I would try and create a beaten up old man. The effect actually went to plan, using the burn tool with many brushes/sizes and strengths + a good eye for detail… it all went well.
# Imported after saving as an .Eps, to InDesign Cs5… then just simply wrote out my manifesto on the rectangles created (black for the darker version — keeps a dramatic feel), and (white for the happy version).
# I then saved as a High Res .PDF files, printed on the Plotter at A2 Portrait, the stock I used was a grainy wallpaper - It worked a treat and it was around 100gsm, the darkness of the beaten up old man had a really dramatic feel.

I had comments from fellow students asking me if it was real, or did I beat him up etc… this was quite positive ~~(not the beating up part)~~ and the exact look and feel I wanted to portray to my Tutors and fellow students.

Time taken from Photo to editing - 1 hour Max.

Finally, the 4th of July has just passed. - Usually I wouldn’t think too much of that date, I on the other hand will, from today (sort of ha ha), my reason for this is I finally got a job, a good job to say the least and something I will enjoy thoroughly I’m sure.

Job + Dissertation research + Sun = Fun but hard work.

- It’s been a while since I posted, this is just a little boredom message.
I will try and get the balls rolling again soon :)

It’s been almost six weeks now of the supposed fun and full of entertainment “Summer”, well lack of funds = rare to see the fun side. Thank god for the World Cup. - Well until yesterdays disappointing thrashing. * I win either way *.

Six weeks or so of Job hunting, work experience… nothing has come up yet, 1 interview that I am hopefully going to impress with & it’s a job I do enjoy. Nothing else yet. Just the hot weather and World Cup to keep me smiling.

Not long till I should get my Dissertation research started, I have parts of what I need and will hopefully get my plans over and done with.

4 of 4 posters, the final one. This poster was the last one I created, It has a stylistic flare about it but also it is relevant in the manner it should be.
I didn’t want to over complicate things so I left most of the design to simplicity.

*NOTE* No matter how many times I upload/edit and re save this file.. and jpeg/png it still for some reason on TUMBLR Stretches it a lot… It is annoying but I cannot stop it for some reason.

2 of 4 posters, basically this was a project from a few months back, tokyo:ocean. We had to create a poster that would use the information provided and also work well in a creative manner. I took all my own photos and I used adobe illustrator Cs4 for the vector based imagery, and Adobe InDesign Cs4 for the majority of the type and the grid system as well.

The project was unusual and took a few read overs to know what to do, cuisine and fish came to mind - I had to get away from this… and start from a clean slate.

This image caught my eyes, I like the way the poster has been designed in an unusual way. The images that are integrating with the “Running Man Vector” looks great. The type has worked well for “run for your life”. I am not to keen on the other type though, this is quite inspirational and I may give it a go some time in the future. (the design that is).

Rule #14 = Thou shalt not centre LARGE blocks of type. (with many colours this time).

Aim: To break this rule and show it as a poster, this poster had a different approach to the one prior to this, same rule YES but this time I was allowed to use more then just two colours. I went for a RAVE approach… hoping I’d make it stand out and look far uglier then it actually looked like.
The poster came out TOO NICE for my own good, a lot of people liked it and the colours… My idea behind it was “At school when you had to write LINES when you done something bad/wrong, well the rule #14 break = not good, so I created this colourful poster that reflects rule breaking by writing lines in the order of centreing large blocks of type.
- This was quite successful, although I wish I had of made it a little less BRIGHT and VIBRANT.

Rule #14 = Thou shalt not centre LARGE blocks of type.

Aim: To break this rule and show it as a poster, the poster is basically designed around breaking that rule… although this rule was meant to make the posters look ugly… just like centreing large blocks of type.
My outcome was successful, although I could have attempted to create an ugly feel to the middle. It worked well, overlapping the same type 4x over, just with a slight opacity and 45º twist etc… each time.
